Alfred Chapin Jr, was a true friend of the FFA, Agriculture Education, and especially Oswegatchie Camp. Through his teaching career and on into his years of retirement, Oswegatchie was a favorite destination for Al and Joan. Even after Joan passed away, Al managed to visit as often as he could. In 2018 Al and his family made the decision to make an impact on the Capital Campaign to build a new kitchen and dining hall. Their decision to donate $100,000 to build the Alfred & Joan Chapin FFA Chapter Hall set the ball rolling and prompted FFA chapters to not just match, but exceed his gift.
Al and Joan loved Oswegatchie, and it is our honor and privilege to dedicate this FFA Chapter Hall in the new building in their name. Memorial gifts made in honor of Al will also be dedicated to the project.
On behalf of the Oswegatchie team, we will miss Al and his infectious smile, love for Oswegatchie, and his many visits to Long Pond.
